I love the Christmas party.. it's one of the things that I always look forward to when it comes to the holiday season!
It is a little sad now that we're older... and the gift exchange is a little less fun when there aren't 15 kids under the age of 12 going crazy over the awesomeness that is their new remote control car or Barbie.
Although I'd be lying if I said that Brenner didn't freak out over his remote control car. Oh yeah, that thing was a hit.
We decided to go down to Monroe for the Christmas Party the night before... much to my Mother's surprise! ha! Sorry mom for just showing up like that...
We had a lot of fun just hanging out and Emerson got to play with a couple of Brenner's old toys.
She LOVED them!!
It's awesome that she can now play with toys... and that she enjoys them! I love seeing her grow. I wish it would happen slower though. Why do they get big so fast?!
(Except I do often wish for the day that she learns to sleep through the night always.... that will be the greatest day there ever was.)
She seriously loved this cube thing. It entertained her forever!!
(yeah... I know we look as pale as a Stephenie Meyer vampire.... I'm blaming it on the lighting, not the fact that I'm in desperate need of a tan)
At the Christmas party Emerson had the chance to open her very first Christmas present! I can't really say that she liked opening the gift, but I can definitely say that she wasn't terrified of all the noise and when the wrapping paper was ripped. So I think of that as a success. (Sometimes she gets really scared of really really random things...)
She got a super cute little dolly from her cousin Kaden! :) She already loves sucking on the dolls hands. So it was definitely a successful present!
The next day we went to church with my family! Their church is at 9 a.m. which is normally when Emerson is waking up (Sundays always throw off her schedule... is it just me or does church ALWAYS interfere with at least 2 naps, no matter what time it's at?!!)
So she did REALLY well during Sacrament meeting... did not so well during Sunday School (and spit up ALL over her outfit.. she smelled like vomit. It was lovely)... and then spent pretty much all of Relief Society in my dad's office, but at least he managed to get her to sleep... something that I had not been able to do for the entire 3 hour block.
When we got home we had to take a few pictures in front of the Christmas tree in our church clothes... even though she wasn't wearing her Christmas dress or anything.. it still just had to happen!
Oh my heck! Don't you just want to kiss them?! (I'll let you kiss my baby... please don't kiss my husband. K? Thanks!)
And all of us! :)
I sure do love my cute family!
Also, I have to add this picture because Brenner wanted me to pose Emerson like this and then get our picture taken together. I think that it's hilarious! They look like they're doing the actions for "I'm a Little Tea Pot". What a goof!
And then! The coolest thing ever happened! I told Camden that I was going to sit Emerson up and then hurry and take my arms away and when I did that to hurry and snap a picture of her before she fell over (I did have the intentions of catching her when she did fall over)
And look what happened....
Oh yeah!! She sat up all by herself!!
Of course I started to freak out with excitement (because I get over enthused about things...) so I totally wasn't ready when she did finally fall over... She toppled right on backwards...
Not my finest parenting moment... As Ammon loves to point out.
....Meh!
Now we're definitely in the mood for CHRISTMAS!
Because... after all there's only 6 more sleeps til Chriiiistmaaas.
(The Muppet Christmas Carol is the best Christmas movie. Ever. No battle!)
i'm pretty sure des face planted a few times on my watch. seems to be ok (at least his looks...he's a two year old through and through but i'm sure its not face-planting related!)
