Oh Colombia!

Alright, so because we've been married for almost a year. There have been A LOT of things that we've done that I want to blog about/remember forever/let random people read about.

One of those things was our vacation to Bogota, Colombia. Yes please. We absolutely 100% loved that place.

Ok, so I was super super terrified to go.. I mean, it IS Colombia. Whenever we told people that we were going there they'd instantly start rattling off every bad thing they'd ever heard of Colombia... or imagined about Colombia...

Most of these things involved drugs, and one of us ending up dead.

Comforting...

Then, to add to my intense fear, the Embassy in Colombia would send us random emails warning us to not roll our windows down in taxi's because there was a fear of people throwing bombs into our windows.

Not that they'd reach in and hit us, or stab us, or grab us through the window and then hold us for ransom.. Nope, bombs.

Luckily for us, we had no random taxi bombings... Dying in Colombia was definitely not on my Bucket List.

Anyway.. I'll just show you some pictures of the awesomeness of Colombia, so that you will be tempted to visit the country as well. :)

Yummy, right? That's what we ate the very first morning there. Those flat-ish things are actually fried bananas.. I definitely thought they were weirdly dry pancakes when we first had them, yeah.. I was wrong.

This is us at the temple with Ammon's old mission buddy Andres and his new wife Laura. They were married the day before we got to Colombia, and instead of going on a honeymoon they hung out with us... lucky them! :)

In our session we had to wear those little translator ear pieces so that we could actually understand the words to the session... sadly for me, mine didn't work the majority of the time, and since the only Spanish I actually know is counting from 1 to 10, I just sorta chilled and had to go with the flow. Thank heavens for the cute, old, chubby Colombian woman who sat next to me and basically just did everything for me during the session.

One of the nights that we were there we were able to eat at one of the top 10 restaurants in the world (according to like the NY Times.. or something like that). It had like a 20 page menu, and it's name meant like "Meat" in Spanish. And anywhere that's named "Meat" is good in my book.

On our way to the underground Salt Cathedral (yeah... it's awesome and massive, and has the largest underground Cross in the world... just in case you're ever wondering where that is. It's in Colombia.) we decided to stop and eat at a little restaurant on the side of the road... big mistake...

Here's Ammon with his Arepa (no idea if I spelled that right, if you're Colombian and you're reading this and you know the right spelling, let me know!) Burger.

And here's me with my thing.... It's very similar to an English muffin, filled with meat, topped with a boiled Quail egg, and then covered in fry sauce! Which is weird enough as it is, but then add in the fact that the fork that's closest to my face is FULL of loooong, nasty, black hair. Seriously... it was just like wrapped around the fork. Thinking about it still makes me gag.

Ok, so we still have a toooon of pictures, and if you'd like to see some feel free to check out my Facebook. :) Seriously though, we loved our experience in Colombia, and we would totally totally recommend it to people. Especially if you're a meat lover. They had the hands down best meat I've ever had. :) Also, they had delicious Apple Soda. We drank gallons and gallons of it. :)

And I've now posted twice. Go me! :)
